SUMMARY

My objective was to get to know the organisation of the social movements in depth and their future prospects to shed some light on the aftermath of it all.
It is clear that before 2008 the real estate bubble kept growing and governments made it easy for citizens to live beyond their means. The situation was unsustainable and it led to evictions, life-long indebtedness of families, governments and to unhappiness. So, I analyzed the origins of the crisis and the numerous social movements prompted by it like the Plataforma d'Afectats per la Hipoteca, the Squatting movement, the “masoveria urbana”, consumer cooperatives and collaborative economy.
I came to the conclusion that we are facing a system change that is so fundamental that can be compared to the industrial revolution. When the younger generations who can manage new technologies grow a bit older, this change will be unstoppable.

Paraules clau:
Grass-root movement, collaborative economy, system change.
