This research project is quite complex and long. It is founded in three different topics: Bioinformatics, Cancer and Metabolism. From which I made the following objectives: learn in depth about these topics, experience the complexity of science research and, as in any research, confirm or reject the hypothesis. These hypotheses were:
-Cancer cells will use β-hydroxybutyrate to grow.
-The metabolic in silico model will reflect what happened in the experimentation.
After lots of cancer and metastasis cultures, cell counting, spectrophotometry of the glucose, lactate, glutamine and glutamate in their medium along the 48h the cells were growing, the detailed statistics this project required and the simulations afterward; the results were inconclusive, due to some measurements with a huge standard deviation. To discover more, I invite you to check the memory of the project.
