A novel involvement of Serum Response Factor in Kennedy's disease

The main goal of this project is Kennedy’s disease (KD), a disorder caused by the Androgen Receptor (AR),a mutant protein that forms aggregates where other molecules would be recruited. For that, in this study, I sought to discover the possible importance that Serum Response Factor (SRF), could be having there.

The methods used were “Western Blot” (WB) along with computational analysing. The tools used to develop this project were lent to me through the “Recerca a Secundària” program.

The results obtained from it directly support the hypothesis suggested. These are showing that there would be an inhibition of this protein in the affected areas of KD.

Overall, they are confirming the crucial role that a single protein could be having in KD along with the importance that some of its consequences could have for its neurodegenerative course.
