Discrimination against Women in Catalonia

This research project is developed with the aim to speak up for gender equality. The main question I ask myself is why nowadays discrimination against women is still current in Catalonia. In order to achieve a through work, I have mixed a theoretical part, in which I argue the information and resources I have searched, with a practical part, that consists in some interviews with professionals who deal with this issue, a survey and statistics.
Firstly and introduction places the reader into women situation before the feminist movement. This part is followed by a brief explanation on the beginnings and development of the fight against women discrimination. This research project also includes the promoters of this topic and the contexts in which we can find current gender inequalities.
Finally, I sump up the most important information, I also expose conclusions about what I have learned with this research project and the achievement of the objectives I set myself at the beginning of it.
With this research project I have been able to extract different results, like for example, that discrimination against women in Catalonia is due to a great variety of causes which started with Patriarchy, and is still current in our daily lives because of prejudices.
Moreover, with all the research I have done I have been capable to reach some conclusions, for instance, that there is not any culture which promotes gender discrimination the most here in Catalonia, and that to leave behind discrimination against women, in our region, we have to empower female gender, but also to remind that equality is not the superiority of neither of the genders, it is the equal status and treatment of women and men.
